Change!
Change is good for us, sometimes
You'd
think we'd all be used to and accepting of change. After all, the fact of our
recovery indicates we've made huge changes in our lives already! But I'm
often amazed at my own resistance to change. Let me give you some recent
examples:
-
The
phones in the marina where I live went down over 3 weeks ago, yet I
resisted getting a cell phone.
-
I've
been offered a house for several months which will be a nice change
from boat living, yet it took me a week or more to decide to accept
the offer.
Why
would I be reluctant to take action that clearly supports me in every
way? Fear of change can be the only answer, but sometimes this fear
disguises itself as something else.
All sorts of excuses
When
it comes to cell phones the excuses I used was 'they are expensive and I
don't really need one, or won't, once the regular phone is back on.'
Both are true, but when I dug a little deeper I also discovered some
inverse snobbery. I have felt 'superior' to those who need to be
connected 24/7. I have looked down on those who seem to have a phone
glued to their ear no matter where they are or what's going on around
them. But
the Universe cut my phone connections and the answer became a cell
phone. Guess what? I'm going to keep it, even if the phone lines are
restored today or tomorrow. I figured out that, just like a regular
phone, I can use it when I please and turn it off when I want. About
the house... well it isn't in a neighborhood I'd buy a house in. Now
isn't that silly! I can't buy a house right now anyway. It's in a good
neighborhood, much closer to the grandkids and it's free! It will give
me a chance to get some work done on the boat, decide if I want to sell
it or not and, most importantly, allow me to change the way I'm selling
Powerfully Recovered! because I won't have to haul books down the dock. Sure
I'll miss the community of the docks, but the way this is working I'll
have the choice to come back. I'm being given a gift of time to
experiment and see what I really want to do. Can you tell I'm excited?
Keys for successful change
The
keys to successful change seem to be:
-
Staying
open
-
Prayerful
evaluation
-
Acceptance
Sounds
like Program to me!
Love, peace and
abundance,
