Standing on Holy
Ground
What if it's all Holy ground?
Holy
Ground! What constitutes Holy Ground for you? Is it in a place of
worship? Your favorite 12 Step meeting? Out in nature? While
spending time with loved ones?
How about at the
office? Or in the middle of a nasty commute, or a long line at the
market?
What if it's all
Holy Ground? What if everything is truly an expression, an aspect of
that which we often call God?
We are also Holy
That
would mean, of course, that we are also Holy. Dictionary.com
defines holy as: Belonging to, derived from, or associated with a
divine power; sacred.
Are we
not derived from something larger than ourselves, something that might
be called 'a divine power?' Or somehow associated with, as we say
in 12 Step Programs, a Higher Power?
Our
Program promises a 'spiritual awakening' which can be defined in an infinite
number of ways. The 12 Steps provide a spiritual discipline without
saying exactly what our awakening will be. My own experience indicates
my awakening is ongoing, subject to ups and downs, highs and lows - in
other words, it's a whole lot like life.
Recently
I've become involved with
The
Center for Conscious Evolution's Gateway
to Our Conscious Evolution beta course. It's an
online/telephone/face-to-face study of the possibility that human kind
has evolved to the point where we can consciously take part in our
evolution - become co-evolutionaries if you will.
How might our lives be different
How
might our lives be different if we 'acted if' we were Holy and the
ground we stand on were Holy? How would we behave if we were co-creators
and could actually make a difference? If, by recognizing our potential
we could end hunger, disease and live sustainably and in peace and even
joy?
There's
nothing to be lost by taking this attitude, and maybe, just maybe, much
to be gained.
With
love, blessings and gratitude,
